TEEN HOPELINE ENCOURAGEMENT

I’m angry and don’t know what to do

Anger can tell you that something matters or that you have been hurt. You can bring it to God without letting it decide what you do next. Jesus calls us to truth, self-control, and love, including when a conversation is difficult.

Start with God’s Word

SCRIPTURE · WORLD ENGLISH BIBLE

James 1:19–20

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Listening and self-control are part of putting faith into practice. Taking someone seriously does not mean agreeing with every choice.

ONE STEP FOR TODAY

Something you can do.

Pause before sending the message or restarting the argument. If it is safe, step away briefly and ask a trusted adult to help you talk it through. If you think you may hurt someone, seek immediate human help.

Go deeper: a prayer & a question

A prayer you can make your own

God, help me understand what is underneath my anger. Guard my words and actions, and show me a wise next step. Amen.

Something to reflect on

What hurt or need is sitting underneath the anger?
